An emerging area of focus is on the role(s) of biotechnology
medications. Employers want to know how to address and properly evaluate these high-cost medications, make informed decisions regarding employee prescription drug benefits and maintain a healthy and productive workforce. To thoroughly understand the myriad of issues and to determine the best approach, ITI develops sophisticated modeling tools that offer benefits decision-making support.
ITI’s economic actuarial models can provide clinical effectiveness analyses to help lower employers’ costs while maintaining appropriate access to necessary therapies. These models offer valuable insights, compare newer versus older technologies, and demonstrate a total cost of care approach (with both clinical and financial considerations). ITI’s models can be developed using both past and recent data from inpatient and outpatient settings. The data utilized can be client-specific data and/or benchmark data, depending on the needs of each analysis.
ITI also develops modeling tools to outline the overall burden of illness (BOI) impact of a specific disease state on an organization’s bottom-line financials. A BOI model may demonstrate to employers that, when diabetes is treated with more traditional therapies, the cost of the disease for each afflicted employee can still be significant taking into account both the benefits that employers offer to their employees and the potential longer-term cost(s) of lost productivity (i.e., absenteeism, presenteeism). |
